Solar Energy: US Company ‘First Solar’ Wants to Invest in Morocco
Rabat – US company “First Solar”, global leader in photovoltaic solar energy solutions, expressed on Thursday in Rabat its will to expand its investment in Morocco due to its renewable energy dynamic.

Morocco boasts noteworthy investment opportunities in terms of solar and photovoltaic energy, First Solar’s deputy president for development in Africa Nassim Khan told MAP.

First Solar is examining important investment projects in Morocco in partnership with the National Office for Electricity (ONE) and the Moroccan agency for solar energy (MASEN), said Khan, underlining that Morocco has the asset of the sun which will allow the company to maximize the potential of its technologies in terms of renewable energy production.

The US company had launched its north-African hub in Casablanca last April. Khan is representing First Solar in an American delegation, on a visit to Morocco on Dec. 3-5, to explore business opportunities. The delegation also includes representatives of Brightsource Energy, Ameroc Tires Export, General Electric, Hecate Energy, International Chem-Crete Group, SoEnergy International, Plasti-fab, SunEdison, Solar Energy Group and Zero Mass Water.
