His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met an elite group of keynote speakers at the Arab Media Forum, in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, on the sidelines of the forum, this morning.
Sheikh Mohammed exchanged views with the speakers on the current Arab situation, amid unfolding developments in the region.
They also discussed the role of media in building cultural bridges among Arab peoples.
Sheikh Mohammed listened to the briefing from Director General of the Government of Dubai Media Office and President of Dubai Press Club, Mona Ghanem Al Marri, who is also chairperson of the forum, on the topics of the two-day forum.
Further, Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the guests and wished them the opportunity to hold rich and transparent debates in order to reach practical solutions regarding various problems or obstacles that prevent the achievement of Arab
rapprochement at various levels, including the exchange of information and experiences among Arab media institutions, on one hand, and their counterparts in foreign countries, on the other.
He also expressed his hope that the current forum would reach positive resolutions after completing deliberations among the participants from different disciplines and with decision-makers.
Sheikh Mohammed and the audience discussed the role of social networking, which is witnessing stunning progress in transmitting words and images to the public without relying on TV, newspapers or even the Internet.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, the Commander-In- Chief of Dubai Police, Khalifa Saeed
Suleiman, Director General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, and Ghassan Tahboub, member of the Arab Journalism Award.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed also received representatives of sponsoring institutions of the forum and posed for memorial photos with them in the presence of Mona Ghanem Al Marri.

Inspects Arab Media Forum’s media centre
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inspected the new media centre of the Arab Media Forum.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, accompanied Sheikh Mohammed.
Mona Al Marri, the Director-General of the Government of Dubai Media Office and Chair of the Forum, briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the logistic services and facilitations provided to participating journalists in the forum from various Arab and Foreign media outlets to enable them to communicate with their departments as soon as possible and in record time.
Sheikh Mohammed visited the ‘Media Platform’, a new activity in the forum, which comprises a number of pavilions, and toured its participating workshops and sessions which allow participants to interact and communicate with one another.
He also praised the good organisation of the event which reflects the capabilities of the organisers, and the Dubai Press Club for organising such fora and meetings which translates the prestigious image of the country.
Attends opening World Free Zone session
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai attended the inaugural session of the 1st International Conference and Exhibition of the World Free Zone Organisation.
The two-day event, held at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, opened with the participation of heads and directors of free zones in the member states, along with a group of experts, entrepreneurs and decision-makers from various economic fields.
Among those who attended the event were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group and Dubai Airport Free Zone, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Chairman of the World Free Zone Organisation and Director General of DAFZA.
In his statement, Al Zarooni welcomed the participants to the event, also the first conference after the establishment of the organisation, aimed at coordination between member states as well as activating the role of investment partnerships among them to achieve welfare and growth of the economies of the member states, in particular and the global economy in general.
