Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has awarded its $132 million or AED488 million Union Museum project to a Dubai-based construction group.

The chosen construction group will build the Union Museum adjacent to Dubai’s Union House, the site where the signing of the rules and documents that formed the UAE was held more than 40 years ago. It is said that this new museum will chronologically showcase the history of the UAE.

The company will be responsible for the building of eight distinct sections, each corresponding to particular historical periods or themes, together with other supporting facilities.

According to the group, the facility will commemorate UAE’s profound heritage and will inform present and future generation and the tourists on the history of this country.

Last year marked the completion of the first phase of the project and the works included the site preparation, knocking down of the old buildings on site, moving utility lines, putting up a six-meter high boundary wall,  and moving and protecting the artifacts and exhibits.
