Sudanese First Vice-President Lt Gen Bakri Hassan Salih and Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud attended the signing of a number of agreements for implementing services and development projects in Darfur states at a cost of $88mn, which were extended by Qatar to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The agreements were signed by Sudan’s Dr Amin Hassan Omer, Dr Al-Tigani Sessi of Darfur, the UNDP representative and Dr Ahmed al-Meraikhi, Director of International Development Department of Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Al-Fasher airport.
HE al-Mahmoud arrived in Khartoum on Monday.
He met Sudanese Minister of Investment Mudathir Abdel Ghani and UNDP Resident and Humanitarian Co-ordinator Marta Ruedas.
The meeting discussed investment areas between Qatar and Sudan and the progress of development and reconstruction in Darfur.
The Deputy Premier discussed with the UNDP official projects that will be executed in Darfur in line with the signed agreements between Qatar and UNDP.
Ruedas expressed her deep gratitude and appreciation for the influential and significant role of Qatar in the development and reconstruction of Darfur.
Sudanese First Vice President Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Saleh also met HE al-Mahmoud on Monday.
